SIGN THE PETITION TO FREE THE TRUE PANCHEN LAMA
Padmasambhava, the Founder of Tibetan Buddhism, prophesied the end of that Sacred Tradition to be soon. I do not accept the inevitability of prophecy, and, although the probability is very high that that Tradition shall end within your lifetime, I shall keep this Petition to keep it alive during mine.
In 1995, a young Tibetan boy called Gedhun Choekyi Nyima was recognised by The Dalai Lama as the 11th Panchen Lama, the second most important position in Tibetan Buddhism. Days later he disappeared. At just six years old he became the world’s youngest political prisoner, held captive by the Chinese government.
He is now 36 years old and has been missing for 30 years.
Since his disappearance in 1995, the Chinese government has repeatedly dismissed requests for his release and for full disclosure about the Panchen Lama’s location and well-being. It would be a Kosmic Tragedy if the Divine Lineage underpinning Tibetan Buddhism came to an end.
